(The Simplest Ways to Make the Best of Using YouTube to Increase Sales)

Before you read this blog answer this: Have you built a loyal following around your products/services? Have you been gaining followers steadily on social media? Already consistently putting out great content on your blog? If your answered yes to all the questions then this is confirmation that you are on the right path, if you answered no to any of the questions you are about to look really good in front of your boss.

The goal of any business at the end of the day is to make money and that money is usually done through sales. Increased sales = more money, now what if Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are simply not enough and YouTube is the answer to all your problems; and even your boss’s problems.

YouTube can be an avenue to increase sales, followers and interest in your products, services and your interests. Making videos is not just for comedy routines and kittens. Small businesses and brands are using the YouTube platform to showcase products, philanthropy, customer service and their employees. Advertising your brand utilising YouTube could increase sales and revenue by millions in under a year. The following are things the sales and marketing department can do to make YouTube work for them.

8 things you can do to increase sales using YouTube

  • Give up TV, start watching YouTube and shoot short videos

Whereas YouTube videos on the other hand gets hundreds, thousands, millions and even more views; not forgetting comments as well. YouTube videos under 2 minutes in length get almost 50% of all views. That should be no surprise. No one what’s a detailed video of how your organization was founded, that’s what your website is for. Don’t rush what you have to say, but it’s better to stay focused on the consumer when possible.

  • Become the demographic you want to market to.

Understand your consumers, know who they are, what they like and become. Easier said than done but you will reap the benefits.

  • Think about how you would sell in person.

Practice on your friends and pitch selling them on your concept and perfecting the pitch.

  • Figure out how to translate the core parts of that in person pitch into a good script.

You may need to hire a good script writer. If any ideas in the script take away from the core message selling the product it will hurt the effectiveness of the video.

  • Shoot a video made specifically for YouTube.

This means tight shots and lots of jumps. Don’t worry about major production value, but you do need great audio and clear messaging.

  • Get likes and subscribers.

So: tweet it, Facebook it, and blog about it. Don’t expect it to go viral, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t actively promote it. Share the video out on social media, reach out to bloggers to link to you, and just try to find it the audience it deserves.

  • Don’t put on a mask before you engage.

Treat the brand as though it’s you and treat the audience as though they are your friends.

  • Embrace the idea of transparency and realize it is something that is going to make a better brand.

So I leave you with this…

YouTube is a more advanced tool, because it uses only video for its content. Moving images can be so powerful—why not use it to your advantage, don’t let it discourage you? YouTube is best used as a social media tool to enhance Facebook and Twitter, and to add a more exciting, visual component.

They key is to give consumers something interesting to view with an educational value-added. It could be a short clip featuring one of your new treatments, a virtual tour of your facilities, or a makeup or product application. Especially these days, people have short attention spans—a typical television news story is rarely longer than a 90 seconds—so keep your clips no longer than three minutes.

Establish a personal link with your users that ultimately turns them into buyers and more importantly into fans.
