EFFECT OF CULTURAL AND EXPERIENIALLY HOMOGENEOUS SELLING TEAMS

I believe that creating a welcoming, warm and inclusive work environment enhances productivity and employees tend to feel better about being at work. In the sales department it is important to know that failure to manage diversity may increase absenteeism, which will cost a company millions of rands. It is always good for the company to create a cohesive work environment, and that can enhance the ability of employer retain good employees. The Sales Manager should always treat employees with dignity and respect as it plays a big role in helping diverse teams to work effectively together.

Sales Manager must make training awareness program to teach the sales team about the importance and effect of culture diversity and how to build the homogenous selling team. It is true that all sales team should accommodate each other in order for them to work to balance personal and professional life.

Sales Manager should always have leadership’s concern regarding diversity as it has its roots in good business and profits. Sales team leader must always convey the message to the sales team that most of the companies with progressive affirmative action and equal opportunity programs had experienced high profitability and financial growth over a period. Sales team that is engaged in diversity and related progressive human resource work will significantly out-performed in terms of sales growth, profit growth.

I believe that the major contribution for the team to increase sales and work as homogenous selling team is that a diversity awareness session must be implemented. This can have a significant positive impact, and somewhat life changing; impact on the behavior of those who attend and are receptive to the information being shared. Awareness sessions must be designed to help individuals familiarize themselves with diversity related concepts, terminology, and to become more aware of how their values, attitudes, and beliefs (culture) impacts their behavior.

Another contribution is that training of this nature can also motivate the Sales team to analyze (self-revelation) their culture, and apply what they have learned during and after training. A certain amount of self-evaluation is to be expected. These issues being discussed, during these types of sessions, require individuals to at least think about how they view the world, and how they might need to look at the world differently. Sales team and the Sales Manager will talk about changing their views on a variety of issues ranging from how they look at themselves and how they look at issues to how they look at others.

Sales Manager should be able to realize that by developing a safe learning environment, which is designed to allow individuals to discuss, and analyze a variety of topics, concepts, and issues related to race, culture, ethnicity, and perception is beneficial to increase sales targets and increase market share as Sales team will be motivated and become positive about each other. All this efforts including training can have a positive impact on relationships among employees and promote team building, and enhance working relationships among individuals within a homogeneous work environment. I think that Sales team, Sales Manager and Sales leader within the company should devote so much time and attention to improving race relations that is improving human relations. I believe that Sales department and its sales team will make the business more profitable by improving sales skills with management of cultural diversity to emphasize working together as a team. The company will realize more market share and profits when sales team achieve sales goals and sales targets.
